Lachlan David Hearne is among the more technically assured young batters in Australian domestic cricket. Born in Camperdown, New South Wales, the left-hander has impressed with his calm temperament and crisp strokeplay.

Hearne first broke into the New South Wales side during the 2020–21 Sheffield Shield season, making his debut against Queensland in April 2021. In that match, he announced himself with a composed half-century against a seasoned attack.

As he was getting limited opportunities at NSW, therefore, the Camperdown-born cricketer decided to shift to Queensland ahead of the 2024–25 season. His form in Queensland Premier Cricket for Toombul caught the selectors’ attention, and he was soon making headlines again. During a tour match against the England Lions in Brisbane in early 2025, Hearne produced a sensational counterattacking century.

In List A cricket, Hearne made his debut in February 2022. He already has a ton in List A, which he doesn't have in first-class cricket. In his maiden List A ton, which came against NSW in February 2025, Hearne smashed seven sixes on the way to his century. 

The top-order batter is yet to make his Big Bash debut and will be hoping to make one for the Brisbane Heat in the 2025-26 season.
