That’s a wrap from our side as well. Satara Warriors win their first game in MPL 2025, courtesy of a brilliant bowling display in the last over from Vaibhav Darkunde. For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of co-commentator Arjun Bhalla and scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. CHEERS!
Saurabh Nawale (Satara Warriors Captain & POTM): "This means a lot to us as a group. It was long overdue, and with my father present here today, it was a special innings for me because we’ve had difficult times. Thanks to him (father), for coming here to see this match as he lives in another city and I live here in Pune."
Player of the Match: Saurabh Nawale
Time for the post-match presentation......
Rahul Tripathi (Kolhapur Tuskers Captain): "I think our batters batted well. It was a tough wicket. They had 15 runs over par, because of our fielding and a bit due to our bowling. We need to collectively come as a team. The wickets have been tricky, so the bowlers can be a bit canny. Our batters were terrific today."
6:36 PM IST, Local Time: A stupendous bowling from Vaibhav Darkunde as the pacer held his nerves in the final over and successfully defended 12 runs. Satara Warriors clinch a 7-run win to register their first points in MPL 2025.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, the Satara Warriors lost Pavan Shah (4) and Harshal Kate (9) cheaply inside the powerplay. However, Om Bhosale and Saurabh Nawale steadied the innings with an 80-run stand for the third wicket.

Bhosale brought up his fifty but couldn't convert it into a big score, departing for 57 off 37 balls. All of a sudden, the Warriors suffered a collapse and were reeling at 132/6 in the 17th over. However, Saurabh held firm at one end and anchored the innings with an unbeaten 72 off 47 balls, while Shamshuzama Kazi chipped in with a quickfire 24* to help the Warriors post 177/6 in 20 overs.

Atharv Dakway shone with the ball for Kolhapur Tuskers, claiming a couple of wickets, while Rajneesh Gurbani, Anand Thenge, Shreyas Chavan, and Deepak Dangi contributed one wicket each.

In response, the Kolhapur Tuskers got off to a shaky start, losing Ankit Bawne (11), Rahul Tripathi (10), and Sachin Dhas (7) inside the powerplay. Siddharth Mhatre and Shrikant Mundhe paired up in the middle and kept the scoreboard moving at a decent pace. The duo added 72 runs for the fourth wicket, putting the Tuskers in a commanding position, but Shubham Maid trapped Mhatre for 28 runs in the 14th over, providing a much-needed breakthrough for the Warriors.

Shrikant brought up his fifty and looked well-set in the middle, but unfortunately, he was run out at a crucial stage of the game, departing for 64. With 12 runs needed off the final over, Vaibhav Darkunde delivered a superb spell under pressure, conceding just four runs and picking up a wicket, guiding his side to a 7-run victory.

Shubham Maid shone with the ball for Warriors, grabbing three crucial wickets. Vivek Shelar chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Vaibhav Darkunde celebrated a solitary wicket.

Stay tuned for the presentation......

1 Slower short ball outside the off-stump. More stands tall and then looks to pull that but mistimes it towards vacant mid wicket. One taken. But the Warriors get off the over. They win by 7 runs!!!
