That brings down the curtains on yet another thrilling edition of the Caribbean Premier League! The 13th season has reached its conclusion with the Trinbago Knight Riders ending their 4-year title drought to lift their 5th CPL crown.
They had a heartbreak in 2023 as runners-up, but this time they went the distance β and for the very first time, clinched the title away from home. TKR also enter the record books as only the second team after Jamaica Tallawahs to lift the trophy, starting all the way from the Eliminator.
Itβs agony for Guyana Amazon Warriors, who faltered in front of their passionate home fans, but sheer ecstasy for the Knight Riders, whose resilience and quality shone through when it mattered most. Thatβs all from our coverage of this CPL season! For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya & Ajay Pal Singh, who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπ
The entire Trinbago Knight Riders set-up is standing near the TROPHY. Everyone is all set to celebrate. Nicholas Pooran smells his first CPL title, collects the silverware from the Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and the celebrations begin. Fireworks go off. The likes of Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard are dancing! One by one, each and every player and support staff member of TKR hold the trophy and celebrate the moment. Mohammad Amir was ruled out of the last part of the season due to a groin injury and one of the support staff member is waving his jersey while the entire team is enjoying the moment.
Nicholas Pooran (Trinbago Knight Riders Captain): "13 years ago, I played my International T20 game out here in Guyana. It feels special for me. First of all, I want to thank my guys. Every single member in the TKR team including the fans. Thank you for your love and support.
First of all, it was about getting the ego out of the way. We have lost in the last 5 years. A lot of things were said. I guess every single person in our side have proven everyone wrong.
I want to say about Polly. 38 years old. I should rather say, 38 years young. Dream tournament as he became the MVP this season. The others stepped up too and I am really proud of the boys. Guyana is the toughest place to play cricket and we know it. The ball was spinning. To come here and conquer, beat the home side in the final was a massive task. This is what cricket is all about. This was a very big game for us as individuals, this definitely means a lot for us.
If you are given a leadership role, you need to take responsibility. I am really happy to contribute for my team. I wasn't going to sit by and watch things proceed. We have four top quality batters in the top six and also quality bowlers like Sunil, Usman, Akeal. We were never going to go down without a fight.
I always had a trust on my players. I saw it in everyone's eyes that we wanted to win it not only for ourselves but also for the people in Trinidad, who came out in numbers to support us.
Nah. I just believed in my team and I am really proud of them."
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "We knew that we were at least 20 runs short at the halfway mark. The ball was turning nicely. The only message was to fight. That is the thing with us. We fight till the end. That represents us. We fought really well with whatever total we had. Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough runs, and that's the honest thing about it.
We tried everything all season. We tried to put our best batting unit together; we just wanted to give our all. It has been a struggle for a few guys. It is understandable, given that this is a long tournament.
All in all, I'm really pleased. We fought really hard the whole competition. We weren't consistent, but I appreciate my teammates. It's a great achievement to get here, and we still fought.
Obviously, big thanks to everyone. I met a lot of people in the last two days. They have been very supportive throughout. Also, I see plenty of Guyanese when I travel here from America. Thank you guys, and thank you to the home crowd. We love you guys. We play for you.
Also, I thank my family for travelling 32 hours and supporting me and my team in the final. My boy, Gibran, and my wife, Sumayya Dildar, are here.
Credit to them. They have a world-class team. They are full of world-class players. If you want to win a tournament, you have to play better than them and get the better of them. They used their experience really well, and it's a great effort from them to win this competition. Their planning was really good. That's what you get from senior players who have played cricket all over the world. Thank you."

Kieron Pollard (Player of the Tournament): "Are you surprised? I think this is just a fantastic moment. Not only for myself but for my family who has continue to urge me to play cricket. To the entire TKR team. We changed coach and captain ahead of the season. Being able to contribute to a winning cause. You can't ask for anything more.
Nicholas has been playing CPL for 13 years, he won his first title with us. Bravo getting his first title as head coach. The support of each and every one has been fantastic.
Not having to focus too much on leadership. If you work hard for something, things tend to happen for you. I just want to urge the youngsters of the Caribbean to work hard so we can put cricket where it should be. I just want to teach and go along.
Again, you have to understand what you need. He is a match-up for me but I back myself to hit the spin. In a situation like today, we needed a cameo to settle the nerves. Throughout the tournament, the competition between myself and Tahir has been all over the world. Once I show intent early, I will always be on top. You have to have the discipline and the want to do that, because that's what the team requires.
I thought from the toss. Yes, Guyana won the toss, they have never really done that you know, bat first. We have batted first in the last couple of years, we didn't score enough runs. We knew the ball was gonna come on nicely later and we were happy to do either. To restrict them under 140, we know one or two partnerships could do it. I can't tell you about the future, it's been a long road, let's see what happens. I can only deal with what's in front of me. I have a flight coming up, so I need to get home to the kids and enjoy some time at home. I've been on the road for the entire year, so I owe it to them. At the end of the year, I will be playing ILT20 in Dubai, so that is the only thing I can tell at the moment."
PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT: KIERON POLLARD (383 Runs, 36 Sixes, 3 Fifties, 174.09 Strike Rate, 1 Wicket and 9 Catches)
