Defending champions Saint Lucia Kings collide with the 2023 champions Guyana Amazon Warriors at Providence Stadium in Qualifier 1 of the Caribbean Premier League 2025 on Thursday (September 18).

The winner will advance directly to the final. On the other hand, the loser will have another chance to make it to the summit clash, with them playing Trinbago Knight Riders in Qualifier 2.

The Amazon Warriors have a great chance to seek revenge over the Kings, who broke the Imran Tahir-led unit's hearts in the last edition's final.

Hit with a few injuries, Saint Lucia Kings have signed England's left-arm seamer Tymal Mills for the remainder of the season. Mills is all but confirmed to play in Qualifier 1.

St Lucia topped the points table, with 12 points from 10 matches. They won five and lost three. Two of their matches were abandoned due to rain.

Speaking of Guyana, they, too, had 12 points from 10 matches, having won six and lost four, but due to their lesser net run rate than their counterparts, they had to settle for the second place.

The Amazon Warriors were the last franchise to have played their home leg this season. They managed to win their last couple of games to first qualify for the playoffs and then finish in the top two.

These two sides have played each other twice in the league phase, with the Kings pulling off a massive run chase in St Lucia, while the Tahir-led side pulled off a heist at Providence Stadium a few days ago. Dwaine Pretorius slammed a last-ball six to stun the David Wiese-led outfit in what was a cliffhanger to attain a 'Q' in front of the Guyana Amazon Warriors' name.

St Lucia Kings will heavily rely on their opening pair of Tim Seifert and Johnson Charles, who have done the bulk of the scoring this season. Ackeem Auguste has been a fine young talent in the top order. Roston Chase and skipper Wiese have played their part, too. Tim David's power-hitting is extremely handy in crucial phases as the Australian can turn the game on its head at any time.

Tabraiz Shamsi has been a star with the ball. The experienced Proteas wrist-spinner will be handy in these conditions at Providence Stadium. Alzarri Joseph's injury has been a concern with the Windies speedster missing out on crucial games. Khary Pierre's left-arm spin will also be vital with the tweaker taking the new ball.

The hosts, on the flip side, have a lot of all-rounders who can contribute whenever and however the team requires. Opener Ben McDermott's form is a concern, but the rise of Quentin Sampson has been a boost for the Amazon Warriors. The calmness of Shai Hope provides stability, while Shimron Hetmyer, who has returned to the form with a match-winning fifty against Barbados Royals in the previous game, will be the enforcer.

Moeen Ali, Dwaine Pretorius and Romario Shepherd all can strike long balls and can run through the opposition with their skills with the ball. Shamar Joseph's express pace, Gudakesh Motie's left-arm spin and skipper Tahir, who is the leading-wicket taker this season, all can derail any team single-handedly on their day.

Two star-studded teams take the field under the lights with a direct qualification for the final at stake. Who will be the first team to reach the CPL 2025 grand final? To find out, join us at 4:30 AM IST on Thursday and 7 PM Local Time on Wednesday for its live coverage!
