What a day of cricket we have just had! We witnessed fireworks from Phil Salt, Harry Tector, and Lorcan Tucker... but as it turned out, England steamrolled Ireland for the first time in T20Is. It was a good start to the three-game T20I series between Ireland and England, here in Dublin.

Both sides have a one-day turnaround before the second game. Can Ireland upset England there, or will the Three Lions be clinical yet again? We will get all those answers on Friday. Till then, stay with us and keep CREXing... 😬

This is Arjun Bhalla, signing off on behalf of my colleagues, Mohammad Anab, Saptak Sanyal, Zeeshan Naiyar and Aman (the stats guy). Goodbye and tata!
Phil Salt (Player of the Match): "I enjoyed. Pretty good wicket. It was good fun. That's the way I and Jos play. When it works, it looks good.

There was no real chat in the dressing room. We played our natural game. We just respected good balls, played the slower balls well. We have come here and got the victory first up. Happy with that.

Now they can have certainly different plans on Friday and so can we. This cat and mouse game makes the bilateral series interesting."
Player of the Match: Phil Salt
Jacob Bethell (England Captain): "Great feeling to win my first game as captain. Coming off after the first innings, we thought that maybe we have given too many. We didn't know how the ground will play. But now we definitely know that big totals can be chased down here comprehensively.

I think the opening pair of Phil Salt and Joss Buttler averages around 55. That is a bonus for us. They give us an advantage as with guys like them in our batting line-up, we can chase down big totals as well.

The focus is always on winning but the atmosphere in this ground is lovely and excited to play here on Friday and Sunday when it will be a full house."
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "I think we have to take all the positives. We have done well in few areas and hopefully we will improve in the course of this three-match series.

I don't think we couldn't have asked for more. The wicket was a bit tricky. Little bit of bounce and turn and 196 was a good score to be honest. We were pretty happy. But you have to do everything right in the second innings. Need a bit of luck maybe.

The way they gave their efforts, we had to take the wickets. You can't be ultra defensive. Look we have to review what happened today. We got the start but failed to convert it. Hopefully by Sunday night, we can improve."
Time for the post-match presentations.
Matthew Humphreys: "I think it was a bit of mix. We saw spin on offer. We tried to get the advantage out of the pitch. But they came back hard. I think they know they can access wherever they want.

I think the way the lads batted was amazing. Harry and Lorcan took us to the par score. Trying to stay a step ahead of them is hard."
9:15 PM IST, 4:45 PM Local Time: Finally, it is England's maiden victory over Ireland in the T20I format. How many times does a team lose lop-sidedly while defending 196 runs? But then, what can a bowling side do when Phil Salt goes all guns blazing?

In the chase of 197 runs, Salt went berserk, along with Jos Buttler. The opening duo went behind the Irish bowlers
from the word go, amassing the team's 50 in just three overs. Buttler went packing on 28 inside the powerplay, but Salt kept on hammering them. The opener slammed a burning half-century off just 20 balls, and he didn't stop even after that.

England's skipper, Jacob Bethell, joined Salt in the middle to share a partnership of 42 runs off just 25 balls. However, the Captain was sent back on 24, and England lost Rehan Ahmed early.

But Salt found a reliable partner in the form of Sam Curran. The two dropped their anchors for a bit, but shared a 50-run stand off 30 balls. England lost three wickets in a jiffy, but the early assault from Salt ensured the victory. Eventually, they chased down the target by four wickets with 14 balls to spare.

Earlier in the day, Paul Stirling and Ross Adair gave Ireland an opening stand of 57 runs, before the highlight of their innings was the colossal partnership of 123 runs between Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker. The former remained unbeaten on 61 off 36 balls, while the latter was removed on the penultimate ball at 55.

With the win, England have attained an early lead of 1-nil in this three-game T20I series

Stay tuned to the post-game presentation...
